Seneca kids Shine and Castle finishing the year in style on road in Pennsylvania!
Mid-Atlantic GSMD Club Specialty - Allentown, PA
On 12/11 at the all-breed Delaware Gap Kennel Club Show "Shine" BISS GCH CH Seneca's Collective Soul CGC went Best of Opposite Sex and her not so baby boy "Castle" GCH CH Seneca's Knight In Shining Armor went Select Dog.

The following day at the Mid-Atlantic Greater Swiss Mtn. Dog Club Specialty at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club Show both Shine and Castle went select -- what a great duo!

On Sunday Shine finished the weekend strong winning Best of Breed with a Working Group 4 (Thank you Judge Dr. Elliot More) at the Delaware Gap Kennel Club Show with an entry of 41 GSMDs -- way to go beautiful Shiney Shine!

Crooked River Weight Pull
I took Fin, Poppy and QE to Ohio for the Crooked River Swiss Club Winter Weight Pull hosted at Bob & Dawn Fralick's home (THANK YOU!). We had such a great time with the chili cook-off, toy exchange, weight pull and wonderful overall holiday cheer. Fin showed great promise as an excellent weight pulling swissy and Poppy enjoyed herself as well.  Thanks to Rebecca Gray for taking so many pictures!

I had a wonderful time in Illinois at the Wheaton and Rosemont shows with my girls QE and Fin -- they are such sweeties that make wonderful travel companions! Most of all, we had a terrific time visiting with our friends over the weekend. Congrats to all the winners, but a big shout to Nathan and Tempo (Trick x Angel) on their big win on Friday and to Cathy & John Scott for finishing their boy Ace's championship. As always, big thank you to Debbie Fields for taking pictures and capturing these moments. 

BISS Gold GCH Seneca's Collective Soul "Shine" and GCH Seneca's Night In Shining Armor "Castle" also hit the show circuit in Cleveland and had a good four days of showing. Shine went Best of Breed three of four days and Select Bitch the other and Castle picked up three grand champion points going BOS and Select Dog. Also, shout out to our good friends Kim Woollard with Gander and Tina Bailey with Arken on their new championships earned this weekend! 

November 2015

Greater Clark County Kennel Club
Gypsy Boots earned the first two legs towards her Companion Dog (CD) title at an All Breed Obedience Trial in Ridgefield, WA. Just one more leg for the title and VGS title. She can do it!

Mid-Ohio Cluster 
​I had a wonderful time in Ohio with Fin & Pond at the Mid-Ohio Cluster. Both girls showed great for me and Fin went Winners Bitch and Best of Breed Owner Handled for 2pts on Thursday at the Sandusky Kennel Club Show and Pond went Reserve Winners Bitch to the major on Friday at Dayton Kennel Club Show. Shine also great weekend going Best of Breed and then on to a Working Group 4 on Thursday with  Select Bitch Friday, Best of Opposite Saturday and then another Best of Breed win on Sunday earning Shine the final points needed for her Gold Grand Championship -- great job, Shiney! Thank you to Kim and Doug for hosting us, the girls clearly had a great time!

The little Plant Puppies had their first exposure to ducks to evaluate their herding instinct...and let's face it, it was a very cute video opportunity! They all did a fantastic job with duckies.

October 2015

Introducing Seneca's newest champion -- Rue! Ch. Seneca's Melody Of A Mockingjay finished her championship at the Valparaiso Kennel Club Show. Rue was such a natural in the show ring and made earning this title on her quick, easy and super fun!

In other exciting news...our dearly loved Tippy earned her much deserved Register of Merit by producing five AKC Champions (Rue, Tracker, Scout, Hannah & Ally). It is with great pleasure to now be able to write ​Ch. Painted Mtn. Seneca's Tip A Canoe ROM

GSMDCA National Specialty 
Shine and Gypsy Boots had a great week at the 2015 GSMDCA National Specialty in Loveland, CO!
  • Shine won the Top Twenty (judges choice)! Thank you to  judges Barbara Martinez, Thompson Stanfield,  and Michael Blanchard! In addition, Shine was given an Award of Merit at the National Specialty under Judge Burton Yamada. Great job, Shine!
  • Gypsy Boots was awarded the 2015 GSMDCA Ambassador of the Breed at the annual awards banquet! Over the course of the week she participated in rally, draft, weight pull and obedience earning a qualifying rally novice leg. Way too go, Boots!​
Arapahoe Kennel Club / Rocky Mountain GSMD Supported Entry
  • Shine went Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday (9/19) and it followed up on Sunday going Best of Breed under Judge Alberto Berrios and to top it off earned a Working Group 4 under Judge Mrs. Terry Berrios. Great way to start of the National Specialty Week!
  • Gypsy Boots earned her Rally Novice title on Sunday (9/20)

Had such a blast with Allison at the IN Sand Dunes! 
We took Kayak, Mayday & Zippo and they were just too cute; especially Kayak with her love for the water!

Rue & Pond earn first points & majors in Belvidere
  • 7/10: Blackhawk Kennel Club - Pond (Walter x Cookie) goes WB for a major and Rue takes 1st in BBE at her first show. 
  • 7/11: Kishwaukee Kennel Club - Rue (Seuss x Tippy) goes WB/BOS/BOBOH 4 pt major
  • 7/12: Kishwaukee Kennel Club - Rue goes WB/BOW/BOS/BOBOH/OHG3 for another 4 major!
Also, great job to Kelly Nevin and her WB/BOW win with Celcius on Friday and kudos to Marcy and Sloane (Trick x Shine) for a great showing and to Fin (George x Tippy) who went first in her class each day. Fun weekend in Belvidere, IL with wonderful friends and lovely dogs!

  • 6/13: Bentley finished today earning his championship in South Hamilton, MA! Ch. Seneca's Incrediberry Bentley gives Zippo her 4th champion! Big congrats to his co-owner Curt and a special thank you to Kelly Nevin for making this happen! Way to go Bentley!
  • 6/13: Sloane, Seneca's Hoity Toity Sizzle Shine, owner handled by Marcywent Winners Bitch for a 3pt major at the first of the Lake Shore Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club Specialty Shows in Illinois. What a great win! 
  • 6/12 - 6/14: Shine, BISS Silver GCH Seneca's Collective Soul CGC, went Best of Opposite Sex at the Little Fort Kennel Club show leading up to the specialty shows and went on to win BOS (show I) and went Best In Specialty Show (show II) at Lake Shore Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club Specialties. Way to go Shine! On Sunday Shine went BOS to her son Castle at the Little Fort Kennel Club show
  • 6/13 & 6/14: Castle, GCh. Seneca's Knight In Shining Armor was recognized with an Award of Merit at the Lake Shore Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club Specialty Show I. Best of Breed the following day at the Little Fort Kennel Club show

TRICK HAS ANOTHER CHAMPION
Trick and I send big congratulations to Phreddie and Chloe Sienkewicz of Land's End Kennel to their newest champion, Blush! Ch. Land's End Still Blushing (Trick x Wink) finished her AKC championship on March 28, 2015 at the Finger Lakes Kennel Club Show. Great job, she's lovely!

BENTLEY
Seneca's Incrediberry Bentley was able to tunnel his way out of the snow to make it to show in New York this past weekend (3/7). At the Monticello New York Kennel Club Show he went Winners Dog/Best of Winners for another three point major. Almost done! Thank you again to Kelly Nevin for getting him to the shows and for handling him!

It has been a great week for Gypsy Boots out in Oregon! She earned her CGC on 2/19 and then went on to her 2nd (2/22) and 3rd (2/23) legs along with the new title of Beginner Novice in AKC obedience. Next step now is her CD title so she can earn her Versatility Greater Swiss.

AHBA HEARTS & FLOWERS HERDING TRIAL
WTG Pacific NW Seneca Swissies Gypsy Boots & Cutter.. they spent their weekend at a herding trial working their hearts out! The news on the street is that Gypsy Boots went Combined High In trial AND earned three new titles, including her second Advanced Title -- this time on ducks!! WTG GYPSY BOOTS you are a true working beauty queen! Cutter also gave it his all and earned two new titles! Very excited for you guys! So much practice, preparation, and fitness goes into these trials! Well done.

DENVER CLUSTER
Big shout out to Trick's boy Roman (Trick x Siren) who has been doing great at the Denver Cluster! Thursday he went RWD to a 5 pt major, Friday he won WD/BOW for a 5pt major and he pulled the same thing off on Sunday! Only a few points away from earning his championship! Congrats to all!

INDY WINTER CLASSIC
The Seneca girls has a great time at the Indy Winter Classic. Shine was BOS three of the four days, Salty went RWB two days to the major and Sloane did a great job in the ring getting some more show experience -- good job girls! Congratulations to all GSMD winners, it was lovely to show with you all! Hope everyone made it home safely and see you next year. Salty and I appreciated all who took the time to say hello and she especially appreciated all the pets. Good Luck to all going to Westminster this year! BIG thank you to Debbie Fields for taking photos on the weekend!

PORTLAND ROSE CITY CLUSTER
Gypsy Boots earned her first leg towards her Beginner Novice obedience title at the Portland Rose City Cluster this past weekend. Keep up the good work. Here is a video from a match the previous week. Thanks to her owner for all your hard work with the training and to Bonnie Huett for handling here. Here's to getting that Companion Dog title this year for her VGS! Mommy Kayak says good job!

ELGIN KENNEL CLUB; ST. CHARLES, IL
I had a wonderful time in Illinois at the Elgin Kennel Club show, so many lovely GSMDs and most of all great people! Big congrats to the two new championships earned over the weekend to Amy Neal & Kim Woollard and their girl Rye and to Cathy Scott & Betsy Duke and their boy Cedar!
  • On Saturday Marcy & Sloane went Reserve Winners Bitch to the major and they looked fantastic! So very proud of this team!! 
  • Sunday Rue went Winners Bitch for her third major, I'm having such a fun time showing her. 
  • Shine looked lovely as usually going Best of Opposite Sex both days. 

We were able to enjoy some time exploring the area and visiting with friends, what a fun weekend!  Thanks to Debbie Fields for capturing the show with her photo skills.

JULY AHBA HERDING TRIAL
Gypsy Boots and Cutter had a great weekend at an AHBA herding trail in Gig Harbor, WA! Congrats to them for a job well done and to their shepherd, Dave Viklund for all his work with these two!

  • Cutter earned his 1st leg toward his advanced Herding Trial Arena Dog title and also did some great work on the ranch dog course. 
  • Gypsy Boots earned her Herding Trial Dog title on sheep, a leg towards her Herding Ranch Dog Intermediate title and she also picked up two more points/legs for her Herding Trial Championship title with several placements in her large classes.

The girls and I had a great time breaking in the new minivan on a road trip to Lima for the weekend! Thanks, Mom for coming along to help! QE (Recon x Zippo) and Fin were troopers despite the rainy weather and both had a great time.

Seneca's Collective Soul CGC "Shine" her second Working Group 2 placement at the Cary Kennel Club Show in Raleigh, NC! At the five day cluster Shine went Best of Breed three of the five days along with BOS & SB the other days. I am so proud of her accomplishment! GRAYSLAKE
Sloane - Congratulations to Sloane on a successful weekend at her first dog show! At the Grayslake shows Sloane went WB/BOW for her first point on Thursday (1/22) and RWB on Sunday (1/25). Keep up the good work!

Shine - She has hit the ground running in the start of the new year, she picked another BOB win on Thursday (1/22)! Shine also went BOS on Friday & Saturday and SB on Sunday at the Grayslake shows.

LAKE SHORE WEIGHT PULL
Pippi (Roy x Zippo), attended her first weight pull at the Lake Shore GSMD Club's Winter Weight Pull. Pippi took a couple tries to get the hang of it, but ended up pulling 505 lbs earning 3rd place in the 90-109 weight class.  She was very happy with the stuffed toy she won, and loved seeing all her swissy friends. Way to go Pippi, keep up the good work! Thank you Debbie Fields for the wonderful photos!

At Seneca we focus on producing structurally sound Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs with excellent temperaments. Our swissies conform to the AKC breed standard, shine in the show ring, perform in working events, and most of all make wonderful family members. Seneca Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs is located in the heart of the Midwest just an hour north of Indianapolis and two hours south from the Chicago metro area.
