greater swiss mountain dog puppies
We do not have any swissy puppies available at this time.
Here at Seneca GSMD it is my intent to breed sound, happy, healthy, and versatile Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. Our breeding dogs are thoroughly evaluated for soundness of mind and body. Our dogs are active participants in AKC Conformation with Champion status or working toward it. Many of the dogs I have bred also participate in other venues like obedience, packdog, skijoring, drafting, agility, rally, therapy dog, and herding. My AKC Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs have been evaluated for Hips (OFA), Elbows (OFA), Shoulders and Eye (OFA) health. Although it is not a current component of our parent club's (GSMDCA) CHIC requirements some of our dogs also have cardiac screens (OFA).
I take very special care to ensure that each and every puppy is well socialized before entering it's new home. When the puppies are 7 weeks old they are temperament tested using the Volhard Test plus some of my own unique evaluation to novel stimuli which over the years I feel has helped to know puppy confidence & reactivity. Then, at 8 weeks of age puppies are evaluated for conformation soundness and breed standard embodiment. These scrutinizing evaluations help to ensure that each puppy is placed in a best matched home. I want the puppy's aptitude and my new owner's goals(s) to align. I am always keeping new owner ambitions in the back of my mind while observing a litter for 9 weeks. Success isn't random. All companion puppies are sold with an AKC limited registration, and the requirement that the puppy be spayed or neutered at an appropriate teenage-adult age. |
